What are Otome Games? 'Otome' means maiden in Japanese. So basically, Otome games are visual novels that mainly targets the female audience (otome gēmu means Maiden Game).
I was surfing the net the other day and I was so stun there are so many remakes for PSP for otome games. Here are some if anyone knows where I can get the ISO file pls tell mi or if you have new PSP otome news pls share thanks. (JPN) PSP ISO. Shirochii-February 16, 2017. Most games don't have any but if they do it's above the link.
It's pretty much a graphic novel in digital form. They invite the reader to enjoy a story that usually consist of a series of choices throughout the game. The choices you make change the direction in which the game is going while you are romancing handsome men. Here we discuss our favorites and least favorites, suggest other games for our fellow maidens and even help each other out when we get stuck on a certain route. Spoiler Tag: !Snape kills Dumbledore!
Depends on what level of Japanese you're. I think at least a solid intermediate is a good level for it since it tends to have some fantasy element terms. Like for me, my reading is horrible but I have decent listening which helps to supplement that so it worked out for me. All these games come out in physical form in Japan so you should be able to get them imported through places like CD Japan, Play Asia, or even using a baggage forwarding service to order it directly from Otomate/IF. As for other games, those two I recommended had good stories but for ones that are easier to read, I'd say stick to games less about fantasy and more about daily life. Such as about high school or music idols. I haven't played many vita games about it since I've been mostly doing PSPs to build up my reading so I can't say much on easy games for that.
For PSP I liked the Uta no Prince-Sama games, Hakuouki Sweet School Life, Gakuen K, Arcana Famiglia series, Brothers Conflict, and even the Amnesia series. Those tend to use more common terms which made it much more easier to read! If you do want to try and dabble into the fantasy elements, I thought Moujuutsukai to Oujisama and Wand of Fortune were pretty great and not too difficult to get used to the new kanji. Then again, I'm a bit behind on newer games so I'd also check out reviews of games and maybe ask the reviewer of their opinion:). Thanks so much for the awesome reply!
This is really helpful. A friend told me Brothers Conflict and Diabolik Lovers were really easy so I might start there since I can borrow them:) I'm a relative beginner formally but I understand a lot more than I should for my level when it's spoken in context, enough to watch easier anime without subs. So it sounds like it's a good time to start for me!
I'm about to walk into a test so I'll look at this a bit more later when I'm at home. Thanks again! Yes BroCon is definitely super easy to get into since it's all about daily life! I've never played DiaLovers cause I don't like the sadistic feel of the game so I've never played it so I can't say much on the difficulty of that:) And yes! It's a great time to start! I was the same way.
I pick up spoken so much more quickly so my vocabulary is a lot better than it seems like for my actual reading comprehension which is why I started with things like visual novel games but lately I have been dabbling into manga as well for more of the fantasy elements because many of them use furigana which helps a ton and prevents me from having to open a dictionary as often. And it's no problem! Feel free to ask any more questions you have!:).
Translator's Notes. I am not very good with reading and translating narration, so the text in ADV mode might have a lot of mistakes. If you have suggestions for better translation, please feel free to let me know. Onii-chan, Onii-san, Nii-chan, Nii-san = Older brother - Onee-chan, Onee-san, Nee-chan, Nee-san = Older sister. Sometimes guys (usually delinquents or skirt chasers in this game) call women this way, too. B dash: In some old console games, you hold B button and a directional pad when you want a character to dash. Camellia: One of the choices for Karen's nickname comes from her last name Hanatsubaki which means camellia.
Yamaarashi: One of Fujiyama Arashi's nicknames is Yamaarashi. It's written as ヤマアラシ in Japanese so I assumed it's the word that means porcupine ( 山荒). But it could also mean 山嵐 (Yama Arashi) which is a judo technique. In the end, I left the name as Yamaarashi.
SR, SR400 = Ruka and Kouichi's motorcycle. (From Yamaha SR400.) - Rich = Fictional currency in this game. However, in some conversations, the game also mentioned which I kept it as is even though I thought it was the scriptwriter's mistake. MANAKA (fashion item): Takane Manaka is one of the main characters in Konami's game Love Plus series. She usually wears a white ribbon. That's why the white ribbon item is called MANAKA.
